I totally think I am a wussy...I have been having problems for the last three months with my gallbladder and now have to see a surgeon on Wednesday to talk about removing it. I am also gonna ask if there is any possible way they can fix a hernia I have had for over 15 years now at the same time. I am terrified. I am trying to stay calm. I have never had any type of surgery or anything in my 33years of life that I can remember....is it normal to be this terrified?? God I hated acting like such a wussy.

Well he mentioned something about my function being 38 and that they don't remove the gallbladder until its like 35 and below....he told me he wouldn't remove it. He also told me before I can I have my hernia repaired I need to have either gastric banding or gastric bypass. I would like to try and lose the weight on my own. I used to weigh 446lbs at one point. I got down to 380lbs. So I know I can do it...I just need to get to start feeling better I hate being sick all the damn time. I mean I am in constant pain anymore. It sucks. I just don't know how much support I would have from family if I went to have either the banding or bypass. I know for sure that I won't have any from my father. He told me many times they won't work. I really wanna try myself but I don't know...I am so confused on what the fuck to do pardon my language.

Your not a wussy, everyone in the world is scared of surgery thats nothing to play with, but if your doctor suggested it is seriously needs to be done, if you dont feel comfortable with his idea then see what else can be done, get another doctors opinions first and if the next doc says you have to just do it and pray that it all goes well, be blessed

my sister and mother are both nurses and have both had their gallbladders removed with no problems... They new full well the options and possible complications. The consequences of not having it removed surely outway the possibility of side effects of the surgery. It is a relatively easy surgery now because of being able to do it laprascopically. (pardon the mispelling.) You should most definitely ask about your hernia also. Hernias can be really serious and lead to much more life threatening problems. Don't feel like a wussy. The thought of getting surgery is scary to everyone. So go too the doctor and ask a ton of questions (write them down so you remember them) and even get a second opinion if it would make you feel more comfortable... but don't hesitate about getting the surgery. Most likely you will feel much better afterward.
